Our committment

Australia Post is committed to supporting an equitable representation of gender across the organisation, so increasing women’s participation across the business is a key focus area.

With a focus on gender equality we have the goal of 40% representation of women across our workforce and 40% of women in leadership positions by 2026.

We already have gender equality in our executive leadership team of 50% women and our gender pay equality results in 2021 showed that our gender pay difference was slightly favourable to female employees by just above 2 per cent.

We’re updating our recruitment processes, looking at how we develop talent and challenging role structures to create a working environment that helps our team members thrive.

Initiatives

As part of our commitment to Gender Equality there are several priority initiatives we focus on to bring our goals to life. 

Gender Equality Action Plan

The Gender Equality Action Plan (GEAP) is our public commitment to gender equality (similar to our Reconciliation Action Plan or our Accessibility Inclusion Plan) and will identify various actions we as a business will take to ensure that we are progressing gender equality at Australia Post. The focus of the GEAP is to increase representation of women in leadership roles, maintain gender pay parity and increase representation of women across our business, particularly in operations and technology. Our GEAP is currently under development and will be launched later in 2022.

Career development

Our programs continue to provide opportunities for women across our business to build insight into themselves, develop their careers and expand their networks. An overview of our programs are below:

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Emerging Leaders program

This program is aimed at Indigenous award-level employees who seek to become People Leaders.

All women participating in the program to date have been in operational roles.

The program runs for six months with a Certificate IV in Leadership & Management from TAFE NSW with C Beyond providing coaching and mentoring throughout the program.

Elevate

Elevate is a personal and leadership development program for women across the Australia Post Group who want to lead with success, impact and spark.

Elevate is targeted at mid-level female managers (Band 5) who have been identified as high potential talent. In 2021 we refreshed our Elevate program, bringing it in house and heavily aligned with the new Activate program, to accelerate the path to leadership roles for women across our Technology and Deliveries business units – two areas where women are typically underrepresented.

As part of the program women participate in tailored workshops aimed at helping them to develop their leadership skills and form connections with other women across our business.

Women@Post

Women@Post is a program that seeks to understand the experiences of our women in our workplace which then identifies and addresses opportunities to create a more inclusive culture for women.  Through facilitating this program, we then create an environment where we can attract, retain and uplift the representation of women across all areas and levels of our business.

Part of this program is also to connect more women across our business, through local forums and a social media connection, we create more opportunities for women to support and grow their career at Post.  If you would like to join our private Women@Post Facebook page, please send a request through the Facebook page to receive access.
