We’ve made safety our highest priority and it’s at the heart of our culture. We invest in communication and education activities to raise awareness for safety, including Safety Time, and updates through our communication channels.
There are many ways that we consult with you on safety and provide safety update information and feedback to you – in team meetings and health and safety meetings, through team talks, posters, emails and online.
While working at Australia Post, you’ll receive a lot of information relating to health and safety. Your managers will talk to you often about safety, either individually or in a group at a team meeting. We encourage you to listen to, and read, safety information, share it with your workmates, and ask questions if you’re unclear.
Consultation and engagement means involving you in decisions that are likely to directly affect you, as well as encouraging and valuing your participation. It is critical for developing a healthy and safe workplace culture, and essential for managing workplace exposures.
There are many opportunities for you to provide feedback and get involved in improving the safety of your workplace. Ask your manager about different options to get involved.
If you have any suggestions for safety improvements, get in touch with your manager or email safety@auspost.com.au.
Australia Post has many Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs). HSRs are workers elected to the role for a three year term, who represent the health and safety interests of workers within their workgroup. Visit Comcare if you’d like to know more about the role of HSRs. If you’re interested in becoming a HSR, speak to your manager.
Every work group at Australia Post is covered by a health and safety committee which meets at least every three months. Committees are made up of managers, Health and Safety Representatives and workers. The Committee members work together to determine proactive strategies to minimise health and safety issues in the workplace.
Australia Post has a team of expert health and safety professionals who can assist and advise managers and workers. If you’d like to get in contact with your local safety adviser, ask your manager or email safety@auspost.com.au.
