If you need emergency services, please phone 000 or speak to your manager.
First Aiders are trained to treat minor injuries and incidents until other medical assistance arrives or other action is taken. They have access to a first aid kit and other equipment, depending on the workplace. For example, some large workplaces will have an automatic electronic defibrillator (AED), and where risk of injury from chemicals is identified, eye wash equipment may be provided.
Pain killers and anti-inflammatories are not provided in first aid kits. EpiPens, used to treat anaphylactic attacks, are not provided but you can talk to your manager about making provision to store your EpiPen if you use one.
Make sure you:
- read any first aid and medical information displayed at your workplace
- know who the First Aiders are at your workplace, and
- if the situation is an emergency, dial 000 immediately to get medical help.
