myRecovery early intervention program

myRecovery is for team members who have reported a work-related injury or illness. If you opt in, your illness or injury will be managed by a myRecovery Medical Practitioner (WRMP) and a Workplace Recovery Provider.

If you would prefer to see your own Medical Practitioner, you can do this. However, you will be responsible for any associated costs unless a Workers’ Compensation claim is lodged and accepted.

Contractors must have in place a system to ensure they comply with their obligations to injured workers. If you are working for a Contractor and you have a work-related injury or illness, talk to the Contractor about what support is available to get you.

If you have a work-related injury or illness, you must report it to your manager and decide whether you want to see a myRecovery Medical Practitioner or your own doctor. If you choose to see a myRecovery Medical Practitioner they will fill out the myRecovery Report – Certificate of Capacity, which will outline your fitness for work and if required, any restrictions and your treatment plan.

If the Medical Practitioner assesses you with a capacity for work, you and your manager will discuss what suitable duties you are able to perform in line with medical advice.

myRecovery packs provide information about the myRecovery program and includes forms which need to be completed by your Medical Practitioners.

There are different packs for different roles. A pack specific to your role will be provided to your myRecovery Medical Practitioner.

myRecovery is voluntary and you may choose to see your own Doctor if this is your preference. If you see your own Doctor, you need to make your own appointments and your manager will provide you with an own Doctor pack (see below) for your doctor to complete. You will be responsible for any associated costs unless a Workers’ Compensation claim is lodged and accepted.

If you elect to see your own Doctor, you’ll need to take the following pack to each consultation.

If you choose to see a myRecovery Medical Practitioner, you are entitled to up to four medical consultations paid for by Australia Post.

If you require Physiotherapy as referred by the myRecovery Medical Practitioner, you may also be eligible for up to four physiotherapy treatment sessions paid for by Australia Post.

Australia Post may also cover costs for x-rays, tetanus injections and basic medication recommended by the myRecovery Medical Practitioner.

If you choose to see your own Medical Practitioner, you are responsible for the costs, unless a Workers’ Compensation claim is lodged and liability is accepted.
