Authorised Day 2025

In recent years we introduced increased flexibility for how team members could take the Authorised Day by providing team members with the option of choosing an additional day of leave instead, and over 30,000 of our team members selected this option.

If you haven’t already converted to the additional day of flexible leave, you can do so by completing the below form.

What this means for Authorised Day 2025

For team members who selected an additional day of annual leave

Your additional day of leave will be added to your annual leave balance by Friday 15 August 2025 to use whenever and however you wish, including the days after Christmas subject to the usual operational requirements. It can also be cashed out.

For team members who currently have the Authorised Day

We have written to you confirming that you have retained the Authorised Day. The Authorised Day for 2025 will be held on Wednesday 20 August 2025.

 This means you will not be rostered to work on this day.

Converting the Authorised Day to the flexible day of leave

Team members can still convert the Authorised Day to a flexible day of leave, which provides the following additional benefits:

  • Take the day of leave at a date of your choosing, including the days after Christmas (subject to operational requirements)
  • Have an additional day of leave credited to your leave balance annually, which goes up with annual wage increases
  • Receive an extra leave loading payment that you don’t receive through the Authorised Day
  • Cash it out by completing this form - Cash Out of Additional Day of Leave 2025
