My Safety Words

The way we describe safety has a direct impact on the way we think, our behaviours, and the results we achieve. More than this, do your words represent rushing, pressure and overconfidence, or trust, engagement, and kindness?

During May, we would like you to take 15 minutes to complete the My Safety Words activity.

Tips for people leaders

• Review and familiarise yourself with the module and content before your session.
• Make sure you have the printed A4 activity sheet.
• Print out the A3 poster or alternatively use an area where you can record the details. As as example you can use a whiteboard.
• Locate a space to present the session and book the time with your team. A quiet space where people can hear each other can help.
• Have your smart phone or camera ready to capture the team’s contributions and participation so that you can share them with your facility and on Yammer.
• Ask the team to use the materials to answer your questions and place them up on the poster, whiteboard or noticeboard.
• Reflect on the words that you have identified and why they are important to you and the team.

• Upload your photos onto Yammer with the hashtag #mysafetywords
• Check in with team members on how they felt the session went and how they are progressing with the conversations during the session.
• Encourage team members to continue to share their personal connections to inspire ongoing dialogue and remind people of the importance of safety.
