Access and Inclusion Plan launch
On Monday 27 March, Sue Davies, Executive General Manager People and Culture and Disability Discrimination Commissioner Dr Ben Gauntlett and Corene Strauss, CEO of Australian Network on Disability launched our new Access and Inclusion Plan at Sydney West Letters Facility.
Since launching our first Accessibility Action Plan in 2012, Australia Post has continued to focus on improving and enhancing our workplace, products, services, and community engagement to create an inclusive culture and an environment that is accessible to everyone.
At the launch event Dr Ben Gauntlett commented that, “One of the most critical roles of employers, like Australia Post, is to tell stories. Not only internally but in the community, about the role in Australia Post of people with disability.
“And we know when we tell those stories, people feel more comfortable, more engaged and more motivated.
"Australia Post’s Access and Inclusion Plan touches all aspects of a person with disability’s life. It is not just about employees, it is about customers. It is about Australia Post acting as a good corporate citizen when it deals with suppliers. And, in a really nice way, it ensures that people with disability are featured throughout the plan,” he continued.
The 2023-2025 Access and Inclusion Plan aims to deliver a better tomorrow for people with disability over the next three years with commitments aligned to five focus areas: Our People, Our Customer, Our Place and Our Community and Our Suppliers.
It builds on our achievements under the previous plan including becoming the largest organisation in Australia to achieve Disability Confident Recruiter status, meaning we are committed to inclusive recruitment practices, and launching the Workplace Adjustment Digital Passports, which make it easier for team members with disability to request a workplace adjustment setting them up for success when changing roles.
For the first time the plan includes an action specifically in support of carers as we seek ways to better support team members with caring responsibilities with practical solutions.
Team members can download the Access and Inclusion Plan as Easy Read pdf, Audio file or Plain Word document and also watch a recording of the launch event using the password: Australia@22.
