Do I receive a service award for 5 year intervals of service with Australia Post?
Under the Australia Post service awards scheme, we do not centrally recognise 5 year intervals of service. We only recognise and award every decade of service. Your business unit may wish to recognise these years but this is at their discretion. Please contact your manager to see if your business unit honours additional years of service outside of what is honoured centrally.
Who do I contact if I have not received notification of my service award?
If you are due for a service award and have not been notified, please contact your manager.
How is parental leave calculated? For example, if I have had four sets of parental leave spanning across four years, will this affect how my length of service is calculated?
No. All approved periods of leave are recognised and honoured by Australia Post Group. Your length of service is calculated from your latest continuous engagement with Australia Post Group and includes all approved periods of leave.
How is part time work recognised? For example, if I have worked part-time for Australia Post for 20 years, will I receive notification of my 20-year service award?
Once you have attained 10, 20, 30, 40 50 or 60 full-time or part-time years aggregated service with Australia Post or the PMG you qualify for a service award. It does not matter if you have worked full-time hours or part-time hours during the 20 years of service.
I resigned from Australia Post Group and recommenced again at a later date. Will my initial length of service be recognised?
No. We only recognise your length of service starting from your current continuous engagement with Australia Post Group.
What is the value of the gift card that I will receive?
We provide you with a gift or voucher to thank you for your commitment. These gifts increase in value as your years of service increase and will be managed centrally.
- $100 at 10 years
- $200 at 20 years
- $300 at 30 years
- $400 at 40 years
There is no set voucher amount for those celebrating 50 and 60 years of service. Managers are empowered to make their own decision on an appropriate gift or voucher befitting such a milestone.
I previously worked at another government agency external to APG. Will my prior years of service be counted for service awards at Australia Post?
You will only be recognised for your time at Australia Post and therefore we do not count your prior service with other government agencies. This may differ from how your long service leave is calculated. It is important to note that service awards are not associated with your long service leave.
I am a manager and I have a team member who is retiring. What is the standard process of honouring retirement?
There is no standard process for honouring retirement. As a manager, it is at your discretion how you and the team would like to celebrate a team members retirement. As retirement can vary with regards to the duration the employee has worked, we ask that any arrangements you make are aligned to fit the circumstances.
We suggest that this moment is celebrated with others and may involve a morning/afternoon tea with your State or Business Unit managers.
My team member no longer works at Australia Post, what do I do with their service award?

Recipient: People Services, Operational Services
