Earth Hour 2024

Earth Hour is a worldwide movement organized by the World Wildlife Fund. Earth Hour started in Sydney in 2007 and has since grown to become the world’s largest movement for the environment, with over 190 countries and territories participating annually to raise awareness!  World Wildlife Fund. 

The iconic #SwitchOff moment will see millions of participants around the world switching off their lights at 8:30 pm local time on Saturday 23 March to demonstrate their support of the environment. This action is symbolic and is about bringing greater awareness and demonstrating commitment to help protect the planet—both during and beyond Earth Hour.

This year, our support offices in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide will be participating in the Earth Hour #SwitchOff. If your workplace would like to get involved, visit www.earthhour.org.au. 

This March, we’re supporting WWF-Australia’s Earth Hour campaign to help bring awareness to the importance of biodiversity and protecting the environment.  Australia Post is committed to reducing our environmental impact, and we’ve partnered with WWF-Australia to protect and restore the homes of the koala. WWF-Australia’s Earth Hour: Challenge 60 is a team fundraising challenge that encourages us to switch off and get out into nature. By taking part in Challenge 60, we will help to raise funds to support nature regeneration projects managed by WWF-Australia. 

We’re encouraging all Australia Post team members to challenge themselves and take time out in nature for 60 minutes a day in their free time from 1-23 March. 

The best part? You get to choose how you do it! You can walk, run, swim, cycle, or take on an activity of your choice for 60 minutes a day—like watching a nature documentary, holding a team meeting outside or having a picnic!  You can even choose to do it in one 60-minute block or break it up into smaller time frames to suit your day.

Sites will receive printed Earth Hour Challenge posters to display in convenient common areas. Please display them in areas visible for all team members. (At the close of business on Sunday 24 March 2024, please remove and recycle the poster, and any remaining flyers.)
