An update on our Chief Financial Officer
I want to share that Rodney Boys, our Chief Financial Officer, has advised that he will be stepping down as Group Chief Financial Officer at the end of the calendar year. Rodney and I have been discussing his desire to have more capacity for personal pursuits and family for some time.
Rodney has played a significant part in our journey with his key responsibilities including finance, property, treasury, legal, corporate secretary, procurement, audit, risk and superannuation. He also serves as a Director on our subsidiary boards including StarTrack, AP Global eCommerce, SecurePay and Poli.
I want to thank Rodney for the immense contribution he has made to Australia Post during his time, especially for the leadership he displayed when acting in the CEO role for close to 12 months in 2020. Rodney led the business through one of its most challenging periods, while also delivering record revenue achievements and improving customer sentiment.
Throughout this period, Rodney was also the Chair of the Crisis Incident Response Team, which oversaw Australia Post’s response to COVID-19. Our response managed to balance care for our team with delivering for our customers and communities, and Rodney’s leadership was integral to this.
Since joining Australia Post in 2019, revenue has grown from $6.9bn to $8.9bn, and over $1.6bn invested in new parcel facilities, upgrading technology and fleet to help meet the changing needs of the business. During his tenure, there has been a strong focus on efficiency with the enterprise business efficiency program delivering more than $1bn in business efficiencies.
Rodney has been a key member of the Modernisation and Post26 steering committees and has been integral to the design of the strategy which will see us transform the organisation over the next 3 to 5 years.
Personally, I would like to thank Rodney for his support of me since joining Australia Post. Both the Leadership Team and myself have come to count on his wise counsel and pragmatic advice as we’ve navigated the uncharted course of modernising our business.
We will now start the process to find a new GCFO, which will be an extensive recruitment search. We hope to have someone in place well before Rodney leaves the business to ensure there is a solid transition and onboarding process.
We will celebrate Rodney’s significant achievements closer to his departure, but for now, I’m sure you’ll join me in wishing him well.
Be safe, be kind.
Paul
