Continuing to simplify our business
Over the last few months, we’ve been working to simplify our business and operating support structures. While I appreciate this has caused disruption for the business and impacted our people, it’s an important step in setting Australia Post up for the future. The launch of the Federal Government’s discussion paper and community consultation provides an opportunity for all Australians to have their say about how we can best support them. For our part though, we need to focus on what we can control – this includes ensuring we’re set up to deliver our Post26 strategy and responsibly managing our cost base.
Conversations are now taking place across some parts of our business about the proposed structures for the next layers of our operating model. As you know, we have taken a considered approach to this work and have sought to be as transparent as possible throughout this process.
With that in mind, we’re now in a position to share we expect around 400 team members to leave the business this financial year as a result of this program. This includes those who have already left the business earlier in the year.
As we have throughout the process, we’re committed to supporting impacted team members and I would ask that you continue to look after yourselves and your colleagues.
If you have any questions, in the first instance ask your People Leader. Each EGM will provide an update on their own operating model later in the week.
Decisions like this are never easy, however, in order to continue to deliver for our customers and communities we have to make the hard calls to ensure we remain a sustainable business.
Be safe, be kind.
