Our AP Way Say results

I’m pleased to share the results of the recent Our AP Way Say culture and engagement survey.

Firstly, I want to thank everyone who took the time to share your experience working at Australia Post, with a participation rate of 63%. It’s our people who make Australia Post the great organisation that it is, and as leaders we are committed to driving a culture that supports you and delivers for our customers and communities. By having your say, you’re helping us better understand what we are doing well and where we can do better to support each other.

Our 2023 Enterprise engagement score was 66%, up from 65% in 2021 and in line with external benchmarking of large corporate organisations in Australia. While I’m pleased to see this score going up, I’m sure we all agree there’s room for improvement. I appreciate we are in an extended period of change, and this has had an impact on our team members. Please be assured the Leadership Team and I are committed to making Australia Post a great place to work where everyone feels included and engaged.

Pleasingly, we did see a significant improvement in engagement in Network Operations, however I’d like to acknowledge a decline in engagement in our Support Functions, which are experiencing significant change as we simplify our operating model.

While there are a number of areas for us to improve on, it was great to see our team members continue to place high importance on the Our AP Way GPS and our TIES values, with Safety and Inclusivity the two standouts. You also told us that you have good opportunities to learn and to develop your career at Australia Post.

It’s evident that there is strong engagement with our Post26 strategy, and you are clear about your contribution to delighting our customers and communities. I was also pleased to see that most team members feel energised at work, though I acknowledge the challenges we often face day to day.

A highlight for me was seeing that those who have experienced Our AP Way are significantly more engaged, which really demonstrates the critical role our culture plays in setting us up for the next 200 years.

The results also show that while team members feel supported by their leaders, our leaders would like more support. We’re already working to address this feedback and it will be a focus as we embed Leadership@Post, and continue to simplify our systems and processes.

Over the next few weeks, the Leadership Team and I will be spending time working through the results to develop a concrete action plan and you’ll hear more about the individual results for your team from your people leader.

Thank you again for speaking up and having your say. Your feedback will help ensure we support each other as we face into an ambitious modernisation agenda and build a financially, socially and environmentally sustainable business, so that we can continue to deliver for our customers and communities into the future.

Be safe, be kind.

Paul
