Prepare for disaster before it’s here

Monday 16 – Sunday 22 September is Emergency Redi Week.

With our partner Australian Red Cross, we’re encouraging Australians to prepare for disaster before it’s here. We’re delivering a disaster preparedness flyer to over three million households in areas at high-risk of being impacted by a climate-related disaster, with information on how to prepare ahead of time to protect what matters most.

Here’s how you can get involved:

1. Follow #RedCross on Viva Engage

During Emergency Redi Week and beyond, we’ll be sharing important disaster preparedness resources and messages to help you prepare. Stay up to date by following #RedCross.

2. Help spread the message

Visit Australian Red Cross on Facebook or Instagram and share their disaster preparedness posts with your friends and family to help Red Cross reach even more people.

You can also request some ‘Prepare’ flyers to share with your community. Email community@auspost.com.au with your name, address and how many flyers you’d like (max 500).

3. Test your preparedness skills with the Disaster Preparedness Quiz

Would you know what to do if disaster struck? Take the Disaster Preparedness Quiz to test your knowledge – you might learn something new too.

4. Create your RediPlan

Make an emergency plan for your household to protect what matters most. The Red Cross Emergency RediPlan is an award winning and internationally recognised disaster preparedness guide, designed to assist individuals and households to create their emergency plan.

5. Donate to Australian Red Cross

When you donate at participating Post Offices or via the Australia Post online shop, your donation enables Red Cross to prepare people, provide comfort and care during a disaster or emergency, and support recovery.

6. Watch the Emergency Redi Week webinar

Hear from Fyowna Norton, Senior State Manager from Red Cross, about the work of Red Cross in the disaster space and the importance of preparedness. Watch the recording.
